How to Extract CAB Files on iPhone

Open Microsoft .cab files in Fileso on iPhone and understand the supported Cabinet compression methods.

A Microsoft Cabinet file can bundle installer resources, drivers or update files. Fileso’s CAB reader handles the implemented MSZIP and LZX compression methods, so you can inspect and extract the contained files without running a Windows installer.

Extract .cab in Fileso

  1. Save the complete archive somewhere Fileso can access. Keep all volumes together if the sender supplied several files.
  2. Tap the archive and choose View for a temporary extracted preview. To keep the result, choose Extract beside the original or Extract to Folder for another destination.
  3. Enter the original password if requested. Wait for the extraction task to finish before opening the destination.
  4. Check the folder tree and open a few files, including one near the end of a large archive, before removing the source.

Extract into a separate folder and review the resulting filenames before sharing them. Driver packages can contain many similarly named files; keep the original CAB alongside any documentation so the extracted data retains its context.

If extraction fails

Quantum-compressed or multi-cabinet sets are not supported by this reader. If Fileso reports an error, check whether the sender provided every cabinet and whether the archive uses another compression method. A CAB is also different from the surrounding .msi installer file.

Common question

Will extracting a CAB install a Windows driver on iPhone? No. Fileso only makes the packaged files available for inspection or transfer.
