A 7z archive can use several codecs and may hide file names behind an encrypted header. Fileso supports its implemented 7z decoders, including LZMA and LZMA2, and accepts a password when needed. Large solid archives may take longer to open because related entries share compressed data.
Extract .7z in Fileso
- Save the complete archive somewhere Fileso can access. Keep all volumes together if the sender supplied several files.
- Tap the archive and choose View for a temporary extracted preview. To keep the result, choose Extract beside the original or Extract to Folder for another destination.
- Enter the original password if requested. Wait for the extraction task to finish before opening the destination.
- Check the folder tree and open a few files, including one near the end of a large archive, before removing the source.
For a split set such as backup.7z.001 and backup.7z.002, save every piece in one folder before opening a part. Use Extract to Folder when the result is large, and ensure the destination has enough free space for the uncompressed data.
If extraction fails
A blank or unreadable listing can mean the header is encrypted, a volume is absent, or the archive uses an unsupported method. Supply the original password and complete volume set first; renaming .7z will not change the underlying format.
Common question
Does a 7z password always protect file names? No. The creator can encrypt file data without encrypting the archive header, so file names may still be visible.
