A Debian .deb package is an ar container that usually carries data.tar for installed files and control.tar for package metadata. Fileso recognizes that layout and exposes supported inner TAR contents, so you can inspect assets and scripts as ordinary files.
Extract .deb in Fileso
- Save the complete package in Fileso, then tap it and choose View to inspect a temporary extraction.
- Find the assets or metadata you need. Preserve their relative paths when the package has a structured directory tree.
- Choose Extract for a lasting copy beside the package, or Extract to Folder to place it elsewhere.
- Verify the files you need. Extraction makes the contents available for inspection; it does not run or install the packaged software.
Check the control metadata to understand the package name and architecture. If you need a particular image or configuration file, use Extract to Folder and follow the package’s relative paths. Keep scripts inert; extraction is not package installation.
If extraction fails
A package may use an inner compression method or layout that the current reader cannot process. If the archive fails, ask for its source files or a standard TAR export. Renaming a .deb to .zip will not convert the ar container.
Common question
Can a DEB package install an app on iPhone? No. Fileso can inspect and extract supported package contents, but it does not run Debian’s package manager or Linux binaries.
