RPM is a Linux software package with metadata and a compressed file payload. Fileso reads the implemented RPM layout and its supported payload compressors, then presents the packaged files for inspection. The result is data, not an installed application.
Extract .rpm in Fileso
- Save the complete package in Fileso, then tap it and choose View to inspect a temporary extraction.
- Find the assets or metadata you need. Preserve their relative paths when the package has a structured directory tree.
- Choose Extract for a lasting copy beside the package, or Extract to Folder to place it elsewhere.
- Verify the files you need. Extraction makes the contents available for inspection; it does not run or install the packaged software.
Extract into a new folder so system-style paths stay recognizable. Compare the package name, version and architecture with the source you intended to inspect. Open text resources in Fileso, and transfer binary files to a compatible system if you need to use them.
If extraction fails
Some RPM packages use newer metadata, unsupported compression options or unusual payloads. If a package fails, obtain the upstream source archive or a compatible export. Do not interpret a successful file listing as proof that the software would run on iOS.
Common question
Is RPM the same as DEB? No. They are different Linux package formats. Fileso can extract supported contents from each, but neither installs Linux software on iPhone.
