A JAR is normally a ZIP-format package used by Java applications and libraries. Fileso can read supported ZIP entries, including directories such as META-INF, and extract resources without a Java runtime. Class files remain compiled bytecode, not ordinary source text.
Extract .jar in Fileso
- Save the complete package in Fileso, then tap it and choose View to inspect a temporary extraction.
- Find the assets or metadata you need. Preserve their relative paths when the package has a structured directory tree.
- Choose Extract for a lasting copy beside the package, or Extract to Folder to place it elsewhere.
- Verify the files you need. Extraction makes the contents available for inspection; it does not run or install the packaged software.
Open View to find images, configuration files or metadata. Extract into a separate folder if you need to compare versions or transfer assets. Keep the manifest and directory structure when the resources’ location matters.
If extraction fails
A signed JAR may contain signature metadata, but extracting it does not validate that signature. Unsupported ZIP compression or a broken central directory can still block reading. Request a fresh package or a standard ZIP export when needed.
Common question
Can Fileso run a JAR? No. It inspects and extracts the archive; it does not execute Java code.
