Extract .zip archives on iPhone with Fileso, including supported password-protected files, and check the output safely.

ZIP is a container that can hold many files and folders. The extension does not tell you whether the contents use Store, Deflate, encryption, or an unsupported ZIP method. Fileso reads ordinary ZIP entries and supports ZipCrypto and WinZip AES passwords for supported methods.

Extract .zip in Fileso

  1. Save the complete archive somewhere Fileso can access. Keep all volumes together if the sender supplied several files.
  2. Tap the archive and choose View for a temporary extracted preview. To keep the result, choose Extract beside the original or Extract to Folder for another destination.
  3. Enter the original password if requested. Wait for the extraction task to finish before opening the destination.
  4. Check the folder tree and open a few files, including one near the end of a large archive, before removing the source.

Use View when you want to inspect the contents first; this view extracts into a temporary preview folder. Choose Extract for a lasting copy beside the archive, or Extract to Folder to select a destination. Keep the ZIP until you have checked the output.

If extraction fails

If Fileso asks for a password, obtain the exact password from the sender; changing the extension cannot remove encryption. A missing entry, damaged central directory, or unsupported compression method can also prevent extraction. Ask for a fresh copy if the archive fails on multiple devices.

Common question

Can I unzip a ZIP without deleting the original? Yes. The ordinary Extract action retains the source ZIP. Use Extract and Delete only when you intentionally want to remove it after a successful extraction.
