How to Open NRG Disc Images on iPhone

Extract files from a supported Nero .nrg disc image in Fileso on iPhone.

1 min readFileso

NRG is a disc-image format associated with Nero. Fileso detects its footer and reads supported image layouts to expose files for extraction. The image may contain a disc file system rather than individually compressed archive entries.

Extract .nrg in Fileso

  1. Copy the complete image to a local location Fileso can access and check that enough storage remains for the extracted files.
  2. Tap it and choose View to browse a temporary extraction. A large image may take time to prepare.
  3. Choose Extract to Folder when you need a lasting copy in a separate destination, then wait for the task to finish.
  4. Open a few resulting files and preserve the original image if you may need its full disk structure later.

Import the complete .nrg file and inspect its directory tree before extracting. If you need only a few documents, use the listing to find them; for a full copy, choose a destination with enough free space for all visible files.

If extraction fails

A partial download can remove the NRG footer that identifies the format. Some discs also use layouts outside the current reader. If Fileso cannot open the image, check the size against the original or ask for an ISO export.

Common question

Can I convert an NRG into a bootable iPhone app? No. Fileso extracts supported files from the disc image; it does not run its software.
