ZIPX is a ZIP-family filename used for archives that may include newer compression methods. Fileso routes .zipx to its ZIP reader, but that reader decodes stored and Deflate entries. A ZIPX file using another method may list entries yet fail while extracting them.
Extract .zipx in Fileso
- Save the complete archive somewhere Fileso can access. Keep all volumes together if the sender supplied several files.
- Tap the archive and choose View for a temporary extracted preview. To keep the result, choose Extract beside the original or Extract to Folder for another destination.
- Enter the original password if requested. Wait for the extraction task to finish before opening the destination.
- Check the folder tree and open a few files, including one near the end of a large archive, before removing the source.
Try View or Extract on a copy and verify several resulting files, especially the largest one. If the archive was created on a computer, ask its creator to export a standard ZIP using Store or Deflate when broad iPhone compatibility matters.
If extraction fails
A password prompt does not mean the compression method is supported. An archive may also combine supported and unsupported entries; do not treat a partial folder as a complete result. Renaming .zipx to .zip leaves the encoded data unchanged.
Common question
Will every ZIPX file work? No. Compatibility depends on each entry’s compression and encryption methods, not just the .zipx name.
