Fileso can present a supported Apple binary property list as editable text on iPhone or iPad. For a binary .plist, the editor shows XML. For a supported binary .strings file containing string key-value pairs, it shows readable entries. Saving converts the edited content back into binary data.
Edit a file safely
- Duplicate the original file before changing it.
- Open the copy in Fileso’s text editor.
- Make a small change while preserving the structure: valid XML for a plist, or well-formed key-value entries for a strings file.
- Save and reopen the file to confirm that it can still be decoded.
- Test the edited file in the app or workflow that uses it.
A binary plist is serialized, not encrypted. Fileso cannot use this workflow to unlock encrypted data. It also does not guarantee that every property list is safe to edit: an app may require particular keys, data types or values.
When might saving fail?
Invalid XML, malformed entries or unsupported values can prevent conversion back to binary. If that happens, restore the original copy and make a smaller change. Avoid editing files you cannot recover.
